Filling Buckets

Hey Sweet Girls!

In my last post, we talked about positivity and how crucial it can be, not only to your own life, but to the lives of those around you. This week, we are going to continue talking about positivity!

I read a book once ("How Full is Your Bucket?" by Tom Rath and Donald O. Clifton- I definitely recommend it) that proposed the analogy of 'the bucket'. Every person has a ‘bucket’. As a society, we are in a constant cycle of filling and dipping from each others’ buckets and our own buckets.

Our buckets are filled from positivity, encouragements and confidence boosters. Our buckets are also filled as a result of filling other people’s buckets. Happiness is contagious and it has been proven that personal happiness comes most from spreading happiness, optimism and good vibes to the people that surround you. Unfortunately, our world is not all smiles and bucket-filling. There is certainly negativity in the world and we are dipping from other people’s buckets when we hurt them with pessimism and insults. What you may not realize is that by dipping from another’s bucket, you are also dipping from your own.

In order to make sure your own bucket is full, you have to concern yourself with the well-being of the people around you. You have to be able to make the conscious decision to add to buckets instead of taking from them. One of the biggest things to remember about your bucket is that there is no such thing as a bucket that’s “too full”. An overflowing bucket leads to a more positive outlook on life and an optimistic, happy attitude when dealing with others!

Until next time,
Molly
