Alright, it's time to get serious. You girls are at a time in your life where media, peers, school and other outlets of society are huge. You are constantly being bombarded by advertisements with pictures, videos and slogans telling you what you should look like, how you should act and who you should be. And I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but there's really no escaping it. The media- and all of the negative energy it consists of- is always going to be a constant in your life. The good thing is that, even though it's always going to be there, you don't have to let it effect you! That's why I wanted to dedicate my first "real" post on this blog to something big... your self-image. So let me start out by asking this:
How do you view yourself?
Now, be honest when you answer this question. Maybe you think you're wonderful (Which is fantastic if you do... because you are wonderful!). But it may be true that one of those dreadful forms of social media has gotten the better of you. I sincerely hope that you have somehow managed to avoid all of the lies that society tries to tell you, however, I know that that might be wishful thinking on my part. I mean, I certainly still fall victim to the media's jabs sometimes. It really can, and does, happen to all of us.
I want you guys to take a second and watch this video:
Please don't ever be ashamed of who you are because you are a wonderful human being and a beautiful creation of God. If you get anything from this entire blog, let it be this... Be yourself, be the best "you" you can be- and love who that person is.
It doesn't matter if you fit into society's definition of "perfect" or "beautiful". You are you and there isn't a single other person like you- and that is perfect.
Keep on doing you and never forget just how awesome you are!
Until next time,
Molly
