Hey Sweet Girls!
As you get older, I guarantee that you will begin to find yourself becoming involved in a ton of stuff - school, jobs, clubs, organizations, and other groups. It becomes a lot harder to say "no" and a lot easier to over-commit yourself, and sometimes even take on too much.
This is something that I can 100% attest to, considering that I am a certified professional for over-committing and biting off more than I can chew. I never say no, or turn down opportunities that I feel obligated to complete, and wind up being involved in way too many things. The biggest problem with this, is when you are involved with too many things that strip you down or suck the joy out of your life.
If you aren't enjoying what you are doing, then why are you doing it?
One key tool that I have learned is to apply yourself where it matters to you. When you are only involved in things that fill you up and make you feel alive, I have found that I do not struggle as much with time management and fulfilling tasks and assignments.
Now this, of course, does not always work. You can't chose to only take the classes that you enjoy (although, you do have a little bit more liberty with this in college), and sometimes you have to work that minimum wage job in an ice cream shop, just to gain work experience. But when you do receive those opportunities to embrace a new position or assignment, or turn it down, weigh out your options and consider the impact that it might have on your life. Take the time to assess whether this will be something that will build up your life, or slowly tear away at it.
So girls - embrace those golden opportunities, apply yourself to where it matters to you, and love the life you live!
Until next time,
Molly
